The Importance of Learning Kalimah Syahadatain

KALIMAH LAA ILAA HA ILLALLAAH

[ Witnessing that There Is No Ilaah Worthy of Worship But Allah ]

The ramifications of leaving this world without having learnt the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah - there is no Ilaah worthy of worship except Allah - from those who are knowledgeable in the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah, as commanded by Allah in Surah Muhammad ayat 19 (to seek and learn the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah from cradle to grave), include:

1.      He or she departs from this world without iman (faith) in Allah in the heart.
2.      He or she expires without knowing Allah.
3.      He or she passes away in a state of deviance from the Sunnah (Way) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW and the Sahabahs who learnt this knowledge for a period of 13 years.
4.      He or she dies rejecting Allah’s Words in Surah Muhammad ayat 19.
5.      He or she leaves this world turning away from Allah’s Indispensable Command.
6.      Leaving this world without knowing one’s Ilaah will result in not knowing the Robb. Departing from this world in a state of ignorance of the Robb will result in the inability to answer the very first question in the grave, Man Rabbuka?

·        The Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW taught the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Ilallaah, which is far more extensive and deeper than the size of 7 oceans, to the Sahabahs for a period of 13 years.
·        Only after 13 years had elapsed, Allah commanded the compulsory daily prayers and other obligations.

·        What is the correct translation for Ilaah in this testimony?
·        Ilaah ≠ God. Ilaah is not God as many has translated. To equate Ilaah as God in the understanding of Laa Ilaa Ha Illalaah is a BIG error.
·        If Ilaah was an idol or other things that are worshipped, why not use the word Maabood which is the more precise word for that which is worshipped? Consequently we need to learn the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah. Otherwise, we would depart from this world without being able to utter or witness that “There Is No Ilaah Worthy of Worshipped But Allah”.

·        With Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah, Allah SWT and His Holy Prophet SAW have promised us paradise from the moment we leave this world until the Day of Resurrection. Muslims who depart from this world without having learnt the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah leave without any iman in Allah, but pass away as a mere ‘Muslim’.

·        Allah SWT looks for iman only in every individual.

·        Thus, know your Ilaah and you will be saved from the retribution of this world, the grave and the Hereafter.

·        Learning the knowledge of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah is not trivial and not to be taken lightly. Learning this knowledge will mould one’s iman and taqwa.

·        Islam came for a period of 23 years. During the first 13 years of the Revelation, the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW conveyed the message of iman. Praying, Fasting, Giving Alms and Performing the Pilgrimage are mere Islam, not ImanIman differs from Islam, like the difference between the Heavens and the Earth.

·        Do not live and die without iman.

·        ‘Muslims’ today have no iman. (Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 8 and Surah Al Hujjarat ayat 14). Allah denies the iman of ‘Muslims’.

·        Only those with iman will not lose (Surah Al-Asr). Muslims will lose considerably more than the non-Muslims because the former has been given Islam but does not ultimately possess iman in their hearts.

·        Therefore, it is compulsory for us to learn the knowledge of iman. Where is the knowledge of iman? It is only in the chapter of Laa Ilaa Ha Illallaah. Seek this knowledge even if it is buried beneath the Earth.

·        Do not leave this world without iman and taqwa.

·        Allah SWT accepts the deeds, supplications and worshipping of those with taqwa only (Surah Al-Maidah ayat 27).

·        Allah SWT accepts the deeds of the soliheen only, not the deeds of ‘Muslims’.

·        To give rise to the deeds of the soliheen, and not the deeds of ‘Muslims’, it is obligatory for us to be a soliheen first (Surah An-Nisaa ayat 69).
